- Will: usually, folks will only be interested in the planes
- Andrew was to look into do a minimal conversion
- Worked started: going down to 2008-02

- Also work on EMDB/etc. easier
- Jean-Marie: need to discuss how we're going to use it.

OME-XML downgrading
ASCB Summary
-
Ola
- ~50 people visited booth
- mostly people who've never heard of OMERO
- view people who had questions since they were thinking about installing OMERO (heard from someone)
- organizing booth: laptops on different tables is better.
-
Will
- A lot of people didn't know what we were doing.
- Didn't know we wrote software, that it was free, that it was for microscopes
- Free software, no consulting or hosting
- "Collaborative"
-
Jean-Marie
- ASCB feedback story
-
Jason
- Fewer people at this meeting
- Higher quality demos (Colin: 1/2 hour a piece)
- Several times colleagues got sent back
- Thanks to Andrew (could possibly have shown up a day later)
-
Chris
- Do we need targeted materials?
- Jason: need more to capture materials (unlike Paris, more like Atrium)
-
Ola
2011 Outlook - Jason (10 mins)
-
Grant "submitted"
- Infrastructure focused
- To be made available
- Interview mid-April
-
OMERO must do work
- jcb, ascb, emdb, distr. compute, ...
- need to keep doing that; have to build applications to drive us (possibly in new directions)
- scale of what people want to do is growing fast(er than ...)
- key is going to be not developing apps in isolation
- can't duplicate our work while still exploring
- merging already started on the web front
- has to keep going; has to come from the devs
-
Data
- collectors bigger, robotics faster
- FS will be key. For several types of data.
- Privacy: "There will be no data repository" (concentrating data in one place)
- Despite people saying that distributed data is a good thing
- Causes all kinds of problems: data modelling, scaling, threading, net bandwidth
- ever more hetereogeneity (NDIM, etc.)
-
Need more coherent client strategy
- Have been using them to explore functionality
- Earlier wasn't clear all that one could do
- Java+Python is good.
- But they should do different things
- Jean-Marie: have lost sight of what's most suitable where
- Jason: have allowed sloppiness in order to explore
- We'll need to kill some code
- More analysis. More representation of analytic results
- Distributed systems.
-
Todos
- Jean-Marie: do we need any better documentation, etc?
- Jason: good to write documents against our current trac/requirements, etc.
- Andrew: Brian in process of getting docs in order. Goal: end of Feb.
-
Jason: down the line, a central place to find, say, SPIM proposal would help
- conceptual framework for where things are.
-
HCA
- last major meeting for a while
-
Grant "submitted"
OMERO.web Planning
- Meeting on Monday (weekly)
- Middle Jan. for Gateway overview
- Chris & Scott attending.
- 11AM
Sprint Status
- Finishes next Thursday
- Jean-Marie will review which tickets have been dragged on: need more people? not a priority?
