- Yes. Start using it in combination with spreadsheet
- Curtis
- OME-JAVA in CVS
- unclear to the outside world
- In Dundee or Wisconsin
- Chris: Curtis, ping me tomorrow. Part of the work my be done
- On OME's svn?
- OME-RPC in OME's

- writing an authentication plugin for openfire
- Josh: comparison to email. organizing threads
- Curtis: facebook model? "here are all the things that have happened since..."
- Will: nice to be able to see it in insight
- Curtis: Most robust is to have state of all events seen...
- Jason: most important is to be able to notify user of
- "analysis has {started,finished}"
- "server-side import has ..."
- cool, but let's keep focus on ...
- Ola, you want to be able to say who's logged in? Only in terms of who's in session.
- Chris: issue with any instant messaging.
- Lot of work
- Client/server application like Eclipse, you still would use Adium
- Brian: but if it's integrated, I'd use it
- Jason: lab is constantly emailing figures back and forth. 50+ emails with screenshots
- Chris: "EMAIL IS NOT A FILE TRANSFER PROTOCOL"
- The things we need:
- As a user I need to know what the server thinks it's doing with my stuff
- Server-side import system
- like growl
- Josh: From the server perspective, messages will be produced, then
- do we have an API for our clients to do something AND/OR
- do we push out to existing clients.
- Brian: would be nice if it was a standard format that our clients will understand
- asking for trouble if we do our own customized stuff
- Jason: I agree; would it be acceptable to have something go to growl "job foo is x% done"?
- Could go to jabber or our clients could pick up on it?
- Will: problem with just sending email/jabber is having a link to click on (but in webclient)
- Ola: could replace sending emails
- When I handle error on webclient, it sends an email
- Connecting to the server, it takes times to connect; the action/notification could be slow
- Re: email servers
- Issues
- Tech without clear requirements.
- Some ideas about how we want to connect
- "Email someone about a share"
- Need to be open to other ways of making it happen (avoid 150 emails / day?)
- Multiple ways of passing notifications
- Nice to have a simple facility that anyone can access
- Ola: I generally vote on some internal messaging system, inside OMERO
- Messaging should be outside of transactions
- Brian
- Working on testing system
- Tweaking .ini files
- Curtis: have something similar in testng
- reads everything in a directory
- looks for .bio config files, to skip certain files etc.
- Melissa has been updating the configuration files
- on a very big directory it eventually dies
- need a sensible subset of our formats
- first-time population
- then run a diff for any new files
- thinking about testng: we should chat, becasuse hard to run all tests on one file and then next.
- MD5 comparing what to what?
- Compares to itself. Run once and produce a MD5 list.
- Curtis: MD5 gotcha - implementation difference in Java mac/non-mac on jpegs.
- Melissa
- bioformats now writes OME-XML with pixels (and reads them back in!)
- cool!
- dealing with metadata for real?
- not quite yet, a couple more bugs
- early next week, we can start talking about it
- "do we support as complete metadata as we can" (auditing)
- OMERO
- Aug. 15th everyone in Dundee back from holiday?
- Seems that way
- Schedule a face-to-face meeting
- BBQ on the 15th? 1OM
- Morning meeting? 10AM? Yes. Room to be determined.
- Abstract, ASCB
- OME-XML, BioFormats, OME-TIFF, OMERO, ...
- Lot of us; how to get us all in the author line
- Can't do "The OME Consortium"
- Ok. Try everone, failling that just Jason. Will explain issue to Cell Biology and that there are consortiums
- next to micromanager?
- Andrew can you take charge again? Including hotel rooms
- Note the mysterious attendee, Guest1
