Bio-Formats 4.3.2 release

15 September 2011 - LOCI and Glencoe Software have released a new version of Bio-Formats

Today, UW-Madison LOCI (http://loci.wisc.edu) and Glencoe Software (http://glencoesoftware.com) are pleased to announce the 4.3.2 release of Bio-Formats (http://loci.wisc.edu/bio-formats).

This release contains the following notable changes:

  • Many bug fixes, including:
    • Better support for Volocity datasets that contain compressed data
    • More accurate parsing of ICS metadata
    • More accurate parsing of cellSens .vsi files
  • Added support for a few new formats
    • .inr
    • Canon DNG
    • Hitachi S-4800
    • Kodak .bip
    • JPX
    • Volocity Library Clipping (.acff)
    • Bruker MRI
  • Updated Zeiss LSM reader to parse application tags
  • Various performance improvements, particularly for reading/writing TIFFs
  • Updated OMERO reader implementation to work with OMERO 4.3.x

We would also like to announce that there is now proper documentation on how to use Bio-Formats within Fiji/ImageJ, thanks to Jason Palmer of LOCI. The documentation is available here:

(It is also linked from the "Help > About Plugins > LOCI Plugins" window in Fiji/ImageJ).

We are now working towards the next release, which has yet to be named. Items which may be included in the next release are listed on the following roadmaps:
