  2. Project Timelines (2-3 minutes each) - 15:30 UK

    1. OMERO

      1. 5.2.2 (i.e. mainline)
        • Jean-Marie: continue work on development, bugfixing for another month
        • Jean-Marie: deadlines still as in Trello, e-mail; aiming for release end of February
      2. Metadata
        • Josh M: (with some IDR) been fixing issues, outages
        • Josh M: focus on getting data available through EBI production system, also work on analysis at least enough that something interesting is offered (baby step towards background processing)
    2. Bio-Formats (i.e. ROIs)

      1. 5.2.0
        • Sebastien: been discussing ROI folders/containers use cases, aim in m1-ish to have ROIs in OMEROs organized into folder hierarchy
          • summarize promptly in blog post to keep the community in the loop
        • Simon: how does UI/client work fit into milestones?
          • Jean-Marie: various use cases, will focus on one of them for m1 / demo
        • Mark: last month’s Bio-Formats and OMERO “folders” branches are still available from my forks
          • according with last year’s meetings, offers tree structure for Folders that can contain ROIs or Images (many-to-many)
        • Mark: over next few days planning to add more Folder-awareness to OMERO (such as folder deletion) so as to generate useful example code in integration tests
          • can also easily provide public sample OME-TIFF based on current OME-XML example
          • for further work would be useful to start gathering “API use cases”
            • e.g., OMERO.blitz offering clients some Folder-related query more conveniently than HQL
        • Jean-Marie: next meeting step for ROI folders/containers?
          • Sebastien: probably sometime next week, should have some code/server/image to look at

      2. FLIMfit/OPT (Ian)
        • for FLIMfit new CI system being set up, hope to migrate jobs from OME
        • Jean-Marie: chatted with Alan Race, got to see viewer
      3. IDR Project
        • see metadata above
        • Eleanor: working on two new HCS data sets
          • Simon: where are they?
          • Eleanor: you’ve got them
        • Jason: we are seeking more data sets
        • Jason: Simon is working on IDR migration to EBI
      4. ImageJ
        • nothing
      5. Learning
        • nothing
      6. Sysadmin (Kenny)
        • done some cleaning out / moving of large datasets
        • improved monitoring, alerting around public web pages, IDR, etc.
        • Chris: artifactory has not been reliable, and it is needed by the community as well as by us
    4. Glencoe Update (Chris) - 15:50 UK

      • had good meeting with ROI folks
      • PathViewer is now at 1.0 and deployed, thanks due to many
        • user feedback should inform model, UI changes
      • the marshalling code continues to be useful and will be further expanded
      • more sample HCS data coming, along with reader bugfixes, maybe new readers

      • team communication
        • more microphones coming!
        • devteam isn’t ideal at all times, will consider alternatives
      • Trello is working out well though, Priorities List board indicates coming work
      • important focus on work that is tangibly useful to (broadly construed) users
      • epics an important concept, e.g., see facility managers’ meeting on Trello
      • our rendering system needs improvement
      • wider review of architecture
        • what tools we use and how
      • will be improving metadata support (see IDR)
      • continue work on third-party integration
      • clean up ongoing issues with Hibernate, Ice, etc.
      • feedback welcome
      • Josh: does “chessboard” approach help to identify where we are lacking intersecting skills/knowhow?
        • model sysadmin was a recent gap
        • spreading docker knowledge worked well
        • need to somehow notice and plug these gaps

  4. OMERO.web modernization presentation (Will, Ola) - (Slides) - 16:09 UK

    • may make testing easier through forcing code structure / interfaces
