        5. Release: 28th
    2. Glencoe Update (Josh) - 14:32 UK

      • maybe some performance PRs and Bio-Formats fixes to come
      • C++ training code to come
    3. Repositories - 14:34 UK

      1. Virtual Microscope/teaching
        • clarifying goals for post from Douglas Bean
          • Ola: still some details to be resolved
          • Josh M: mostly the work is for them to do
          • Jean-Marie: will e-mail Sardinia people
      2. IDR Project
        • 2 more data sets arrived from EMBL and Denmark
        • Eleanor: transferred data from Cambridge to EBI to Dundee, all seems fine
        • Eleanor: now working through datasets
        • Josh M: hardware?
          • Simon: heard nothing, and running out of disk space
    4. FLIMfit/OPT (Ian) - 14:38 UK

      • working on bugfixing
      • 5.0 bugfix release to come, hoping 5.1 for Paris
      • will need to discuss CI at some point (e.g., 5.0 / 5.1)
    5. Bio-Formats large file sets (Sebastien B) (N.B. Seb probably won't make meeting) - 14:40 UK

      • BF/Octave: objective is to incorporate David Pinto’s PR into BF for 5.1.2. Balaji is working on extending the tests to make sure we do not break the MATLAB tools. Once this is done, we can safely include, review and merge David’s work. He will be able to package it for Octave.
      • Dallas/OME-TIFF: sent an update email to the guys in Dallas. Jason may have some additional to report following his visit. As far as I can tell, developers are happy with the current state of things and currently working with OME-TIFFs of ~100-500GB. We are still expecting a factor of 10 in terms of size in the near future. Immediate goal is to frame their needs in the next 6 months and start prioritising: expose caching in ImageJ/Fiji, work with 3d party visualization tools, test cluster analysis on these large OME-TIFFs...
    6. Other consortium timelines (5 minutes) - 14:41 UK

      • Will released a new version of OMERO.figure
      • Jean-Marie: mtools is slow to download in CLS, discussing with IT re. self service as permissions prevent local users from installing Insight, etc. locally
  3. AOB (5 mins max - technical discussions should be highlighted to relevant people and rescheduled) - 14:44 UK

    • June: few more Paris registrations, may be flurry of latecomers
    • Jean-Marie: has contacted restaurants
  4. Import workshop for Paris - Colin & Mark - 14:45 UK

    1. Presentation: Improving Imports with OMERO 5.x
      • Colin: presently rough draft to judge material
      • Ola: mention Bio-Formats improvements in context of improved import?
      • Josh M: there was a thread with a specific request for --transfer=cp
      • Colin: emphasize dangers, e.g., with _rm
      • Petr: describe what “in-place” means
      • Jean-Marie: import-as has been often requested, considered facility “importer” role
      • perhaps can focus on --auto-close above related options
      • Ola: could mention that sudo is possible in web, at least for admin
        • Will: ought probably to decide to expose it in webclient before telling people
      • Jean-Marie: for faster imports, have we performance numbers?
        • Sebastien B: difficult to test when “before” is measured in days
        • Josh M: headline point is that the speed difference makes some imports possible at all
      • Petr: for min-max, many other image viewers show full representable range
      • Jean-Marie: for postponing thumbnail generation, could then use a script to fetch thumbnails overnight
      • Josh M: for the faster imports slide, good to add hints as to for what kinds of data the options have most value
      • Jean-Marie: instead of the direct CLI output, maybe summarize in bullet points to allow larger font
        • Will: solid background behind them may help
        • Colin: may quote smaller excerpts from CLI
      • Jean-Marie: could describe situation like Markus’, where concrete examples could illustrate rationale for options and make benefits more vivid, the different import features coming together in an improved pipeline for facility managers
      • Sebastien B: describe, and solicit ideas for, coming import improvements
        • Colin: what is coming up?
      • Jean-Marie: where does DropBox fit in?
        • Colin: will be mentioned on the “Import targets” slide; trying to keep simple and not show all clients’ perspective throughout
        • Jean-Marie: may suffice to say how these CLI options are also available to DropBox
        • Josh M: DropBox may be one of the examples for showing at a higher level how these different options fit together
