  3. Done - 14:10 Z

Agenda - 2:30pm Start

  1. Attending: Emma, Josh(notes), Liza, Melissa, Sebastien, Stick, Jason, Chris, Andrew, Jean-Marie, Gus, Roger, Blazej, Scott, Elwood(notes), Will, Carlos, Douglas

  2. Accepting minutes from last meeting

    • ACCEPTED
  3. Code / Release / Testing / Bug Updates (15 mins)

    • Total bugs: 167 (4 blocker, 30 critical, 61 major, 72 minor)
      • Gone down!
      • Jean-Marie: Keep eye on blockers and critical before other ones. Should be top priority.
        • Scott: when tickets are closed, the information needs to get transferred back to the gdoc. Process might be easier to record …
        • Chris: what do you want? (trying to achieve)
        • Scott: daily update of what’s been done for re-testing. ticket numbers during the standup
        • Emma: hard to parse the emails to know what needs re-testing
        • Andrew: query to know what’s been closed
        • Jean-Marie: just ask directly to speed up the process
        • Chris: just the timeline
        • Emma: if graying in the gdoc to gray it out for re-testing. Developer has a good time to look at who needs notifying
        • Chris: decision - person who’s closing tickets should report that back at the 0930 meeting (right?)
        • Josh: so don’t push back to tester? correct.
      • Sprint close
        • Jean-Marie: have been pushing tickets (i.e. spam)
        • Scott: will also have to start doing work on Paris, so need to balance sprint work against that
    • Schema Discussion
      • Andrew: 2012-06 is going out, correct? Yes.
      • Chris: no difference from our standard schema work (“in-progress” to “2012-06”)
      • Will: different version of schema in bioformats and server?
      • Jason: bioformats closer to published schema than omero
      • Chris: bioformats married to schema, all the schemas are in bioformats, bioformats aware of 2012-06 has stylesheets etc.
      • Andrew: files read from bioformats, saving?
      • Chris: same thing through bio-formats
      • Andrew: bioformats return 2012-06 format
      • Chris: only thing we are removing from the stated intentions for Paris is that the omero data model is not changing from 4.3.3, db is the same, model objects client and server are the same.
      • Will: Permissions?
      • Chris: no model changes, details objects changes, no new attributes/name changes/new objects, nothing new in data model, db upgrade is just changing permission strings.
      • Josh: Will try doing that on startup later this week, will check on startup, issue a command to fix group permissions, no manual step
      • Jean-Marie: ROI, transform needs a discussion, content changes, added to upgrade ticket
      • Jason: higher level we are not stabalising the model/API, we are not adhereing to the stement looking at the statement you understand the db/api. Bit of an issue, adds stability, everything should work s it always did, unless tied to permissions
      • Chris: non of the code gen steps are able to happen, a completely code gen meta data store, how we injest metadatastore, updated manually on branch, possibility of bugs, most of those things are localised to ROIs, should be okay, we can test, 100 or so new methods in metadata store, no additional meta data exported in 4.4.0, end users lose schema stability and similarity across the project, autogenerated and thorough metadata store/retrieval, never had it.
      • Josh: adding meta-data to export something we can add to 4.4.1 / 4.4.2, a few forum questions, few things to add, instrument object after 4.4.0
      • Jason: leads to Paris discussion; interesting to get feedbac from developer types, since this will break everybody.
      • Chris: database change would be 4.5 at least
      • Chris: what are we going to do? current status Melissa’s 2012-06 support is in mainline, develop for bioformats is 2012-06 aware and based on it. Changes to OMERO this morning to allow us to use and update to that, where/if/when we are merging it. When to start import testing.
      • Jean-Marie: start ASAP, delayed too long.
      • Andrew: server up to import testing?
      • Chris: at least 2-3 servers for import testing
      • Scott: HCS Big Images split to distribute testing
      • Jean-Marie: have been testing import plate, HCS on howe, so db is dropped and cleaned on new update.
      • Several: Tomorrow morning
      • Roger: copy 4.4. import testing not fully filled out with the formats, some formats don’t have test images good in the folder.
      • Scott: some new ones will speak after
      • Emma: plate/images detailed, test the import, not big batches, see if they work. When we get the servers, which server for large and plates
      • Will: Big Images? I created a ticket
      • Jean-Marie: clean up gretzky tomorrow
      • Emma: run Colin’s script? JMB: yes, still need to test permissions
      • Chris: no magical privatized tests unless we each run our own
      • Scott: that’s fine, just maintain user-1 through user-6; give import testers their own names (JMB: Colin’s script has 12 users with admin)
      • Emma: good to have because ROI and annotation issues, space limited?
      • Chris: problem with /OMERO data.dir. Copying it in every time?
      • Emma: list sent to nit-pick and get Melissa’s view
    • Jason: how do we know that we’re done with RC1? Import testing done?
      • Emma: blockers addressed
      • Chris: we should have any tickets that people believe MUST be fixed for RC should be in BLOCKER.
      • Emma: go through those in standup? Define it every day.
      • Jason: a few small ones, some will go away from cleaning
      • Sebastien: coming up on Thursday for import testing. Emma: Or RDC to get started from Edinburgh.
      • Andrew: all import to be done through insight.
      • Josh: CLI testing? basis for dropbox
      • Chris: end of GUI based testing we can try by commandline
      • Will: testing of ROI imports?
      • Chris & JM: part of infrastructure so yes
      • Andrew: testing re-importing of output files?
  4. Paris Planning - 15:05Z * Paris 2012 Workshops (gdoc in Paris 2012 subdirectory of OME docs) * Day 1. More formal presentations * Day 2. More open. Multiple parallel sessions. * Informal, names next to sessions * Are we running againt a single server back here, or locally on laptops? * Chris: don’t like network infrastructure we have no idea about. Not sure what the state of systems will be here. Everyone has run it before alone
    * Jason: determine single version we run * Emma: “basic/minimum configuration for an installation” * Chris: will include hierarchical/NFS/etc. (add more to docs beforehand) * ...looking at list... * Jason: get everyone to show up for 2? (more organized than usual)

  5. Satellite Update (15:27Z)

    • Sebastien: No update.
    • Douglas: Nothing in particular. Looking at heirarchy storage?
  6. Glencoe Update (15:28Z)

    • Chris: few days over Paris, getting glencoe things done, might be downstairs focussed on things.
    • Jason: redeployment of JCB dataviewer, putting 4.4 into production
  7. Any other business (<5 mins)
