2010-03-11 Thursday Meeting

Agenda

  2. Matters Arising (<15 mins)

    • Someone: Fix the HCS preview page (Josh? Andrew? Chris?)
    • Josh, Carlos, and Ola really need to sit down and talk about a django example
    • Josh: Send an email to ome-devel re: ticket #1855 (session timeouts)
    • Ola: Confirm if there is a way to add tickets from shoola with Jean-Marie
    • Ola: Modify QA to submit tasks and not bugs
    • Ola: follow up with demo users about what they were doing (why were they creating lots of empty containers). Find out how many bugs were generated from demo users.
    • Ola: Check the sessions table to see how many of the demo users actually logged in.
    • Jean-Marie & Ola: synchronize some of the permission insight/web issues
    • Melissa will follow up to BF user if necessary
    • Chris & Melissa: add OME-XML examples
    • Chris/JM/Josh: Need to add a few things to trac for 'bug triage' with JM on Friday
    • Chris: is going to update svn for users and remove old users from svn
    • Chris: go in and change all old bugs to TASKS with the prefix 'BUG:'
    • Chris/Brian: adjust the importer to pass original file id for linking
    • Brian: make a QA build of the importer for everyone to use
    • Brian: pick up import QA/forum items and ticket.
    • Brian: clean up the last of the QA tickets
    • Josh: organizes a discussion on ofiles UNIQUENESS
    • Josh: we'll need to decide how to handle the same hierarchy for multiple users / groups
    • Jason: respond/confirm presentation for Donald @ BMVA
    • Donald: write ome-devel about mongo migration in one week
    • Donald: move FLIM work to requirements and link in stories and taks
    • Will: contact Case about data-in, matlab, etc.
    • Will: add an error to console out option for scripts
    • Everyone: ALL FAQ QAs should be done by Thursday
    • Everyone: import data into mage, then look for issues in BOTH web and insight
    • Everyone: Update your workplan pages for anything new and let folks know
    • Everyone: Any suggestions for NDim workplan please let Donald know

    • FLIM-analysis
      • discussion with Pieta & David
      • if we want to give David anything, we have to do some work
      • will take time. should we do it?
      • proof-of-concept to David by mid next-week
      • with push we can give him 90% of what he needs
      • David's doing several hundred acquisitions per day
      • acquisition is ~0.5 hour
      • Chris: What's missing?
        • Several things
        • ROIs client-side from server * Number? 4-5 per acquisition * Every ROI is a new analysis results * 500 analysis runs per day.
        • Script is running, but needs to be run faster * Swig wrappers, using MPI, using job submissions
        • Some way (UI) of getting results back and presenting them
      • Then we have a FLIM workflow that saves 10s of hours
      • Really just want to give folks the heatmaps
      • Then there should be another dozen people wanting to do FLIMs
      • Time? A week to have something to show people.
      • 2 iterations (including holiday)
      • Has a month worths of reslts, then he won't be doing it anymore.

    • Chris: gotten a bit huge
    • Several have come from moving tasks to stories
    • Jean-Marie: some stories are dragged along
    • Chris: worries me that 30+ tasks for more work than our capacity
    • Josh: stories are often incomplete and you have to add tasks as you go along
    • Chris: good thing is that we've noticed this 5 days on
    • @Chris will take out automatic owner assignment

    • forum: several are open but we've replied
    • ome-devel: permissions
      • trunk / dbupgrades
      • SQL / won't be able to upgrade
      • need to test the group/user-name issue
  • Paris registration

    • Angie's doing it
    • Program for the Paris? (a little time, but start thinking)
    • Jason has been contacted about presentations (Knime,...)
    • Spencer has also asked about a program
    • How to efficiently / effectively present a year's worth of work?
      • Eg.: FS, tables/storage, permissions, ...
      • These help us define our targets
      • @By Tuesday, Jason will come up some topics on a page
    • Jerome wrote about coming to Dundee
      • His code is now cross-platform
      • @Jean-Marie sends the dates the Jason (mid-april)
      • he'll be deploying on OMERO deployment (were funded)
  • DB upgrade

    • Josh: There are a few small things that need to changed. Should we do this before the DB upgrade?
      • Jean-Marie: Yes! Image.format field (with Ola)
      • File format list
      • SPW stuff? (Pushing calls server-side)
      • Jason: add new microscopy types and other enumerations
      • Channel objects and pixels objects fixes
      • Jean-Marie: HCS changes should be doable without breaking anything
