      • demo site, Euro mtg, mailing lists, 4.2 & "thanks for all the fish"
  • mobility

    • small devices in mobile environments
    • examining mainly the iPhone
    • observations for some feedback
    • 1024 x 768 and smaller? (iPad; netbooks and smaller)
    • small, 3G, slow CPU
    • "tech is crap" (cF. power)
      • 64M RAM. "Why bother?"
    • hot for mobile 2.0, collaboration
    • 3 camps: blackberry, iphone (dedicated push apps) v. web apps
    • getting more powerful
    • mistake for us to ignore them
    • options
      • web-enabled app
        • screenshots: obviously not designed for the small screen
        • web tech: fast, light-weight, server-side, but not rich
      • dedicated app
    • "ideal app"
      • some offline viewing, fast; 2-3 clicks showing something (not 5 minute downloading)
      • about collaboration; screenshots of facebook iphone app; brilliant for small device
      • push notification
      • minor tagging / metadata / searching
      • multi-touch functionality would be great
      • Jason: summary "download this dataset to my device"
        • work with and then resync to server ("easy")
        • different from "communicative client model" (i.e. online)
        • Brian: search/tag/text annotations ok online * pull down & cache dataset shouldn't be too difficult * JPGs anyway
    • any data calls?
      • no OMERO calls
      • Objective-C project skeleton ("interesting")
      • very few examples of iPhone in pure C on the web
    • Ice?
      • Josh: would likely need to generate very slim Obj-C code
    • "4G": 50 MB in Stockholm
      • Jason: often used 3G modem with reasonable connection with OMERO (can work)
    • demo & fb screenshots
      • Carlos: can create multiple apps,
        • but with .web created by Carlos & Ola could do something similar
        • get a thin API to allow for development for all the apps (web/obj-c/...)
        • Brian: Rest?
        • Carlos: No, not stateless (session-dependent). Ajax. Close to be reusable.
        • Documenting what we have!
    • flavor of the month-y?
    • Donald: just recreating a FB app?
    • Chris: we haven't been able to collaborate with this tool
      • is this the way?
      • NB: almost no CommentAnnotations
      • people not willing or tools not good enough?
      • Jason: hard to do well, and making steps (progression)
    • Jean-Marie: new app means new language, etc.
      • using web is just scaling down for smaller screen
      • Chris: don't currently have infrastructure for iPhone
        • permissions, etc.
      • and don't know what requirements are (market unknown)
      • we don't have any click data
      • Chris: burden on other clients to have same collaboration environment
        • cF. shares
      • Percentage who have one AND know how to use them??
      • Jean-Marie: something to examine, what do they like/use
    • Jason: miss being able to see data from group
      • easy way to interact
      • "need lightweight/browser-based client"
    • actions/decisions
      • those working on collaboration should define a light-weight API
      • Chris: shouldn't be reproducing investigations
      • Donald: not on roadmap (ok) but in-line with everyone's work efforts
      • Jean-Marie: need to record interactions once we have group permissions
        • then we have full power of the web
  • survey/PM

    • scott
      • quick as possible (to cover so much information)
      • a lot of potential further analysis; feedback welcome
      • Jason: need standard deviation, all positive
    • Josh: last 7 slides are the things we agreed on
      • take out the green and agree on
    • Andrew: can I change my answers? (didn't use enough 4s and 5s)
    • bubbles are things that didn't get said (and need to)
    • filling out boxes that are unfilled? Probably.
    • Brian: was anyone looking at other's numbers?
      • Colin: did it quite late. Very clear. Tried not to look.
      • Carlos: yes, I looked. (Josh's & Chris' when didn't understand question)
      • Andrew: made new column at start to not look (values have different slant)
        • was a disadvantage
    • being careful of misentries
    • Everyone read the bubbles
    • We will discuss on Thursday
    • Also look at three tools: Agilo, Jira, Mingle
      • Version of Agilo with our Data?
      • Chris: DB upgrade if breaks, later.
  • demo/presentations

    • permissions demoable on Thursday
    • alternatives to DB on Tuesday (added late to iteration)
    • Jason is the week after
