Notes

  • Interoperabiltiy: Jason has been talking to various users to get feedback. It is presumed that Baltimore, Madison and MIT have been doing the same.
  • Several of the people Jason has been talking to have commented that they would love to see a real implementation of OME-TIFF / XML. There is an ongoing conversation over what the final version of the implementation would look like. Most of the feedback has been: "Just give us a API library that will let us use your format (whatever that might end up looking like)". The preference from users seems to be for an OME-TIFF format.
  • We now have some basic "Hacked" version of BioFormats that allow us to import images into OMERO. After discussing things with Curtis, We are continuing ahead with a more concrete version of BioFormats that will allow better interoperabiltiy with both OME and OMERO at the same time.
  • We are now using a version of OMERO Milestone 2 working at Woods Hole as well as some import tools (BioFormats and Resurrect). In addition to that, we have a new version of Shoola running against the OMERO server there. Jason is now testing most of the functionality and workflow between these tools.
  • In relation to security: We are now starting to look over this issue as per our upcoming M3 milestone. What needs to be changed? What are the use cases for security? How are permissions propagated? How do we need to distinguish between "reading data" and "using data"? Please review the OMERO tiki pages for a primer on the security model proposal currently up. Feedback is welcome!
